How To Make A Big Comeback!

I remember the time so clearly. I was on a Jr. High School basketball team and we played one of our rivals across the city. We were up for the game, thought we were ready to play, and after the first quarter we were staring at the scoreboard that showed that we were behind by more than 20 points. I never forgot the disappointment in the huddle after realizing that our hopes of winning the game were pretty much destroyed. Then, I will never forget what our coach told us. He said, “Guys, don’t try to comeback all at once.” He went on to say, “Don’t try to win the game try to win the next quarter.” Suddenly, we found the secret. The idea of winning the game seemed so far from reality after a dreadful first quarter but the idea of winning the next quarter seemed very possible. We won the next quarter, and the next, and we found ourselves winning the game in the end.

THE WAY TO COME BACK IS NOT TO TRY TO GET IT ALL BACK AT ONCE BUT WIN THE NEXT PERIOD OF TIME IN YOUR LIFE.

By breaking down your life into short periods with day-by-day goals things are rebuilt. At the Dream Center, I have seen drug addicts commit themselves to a season of recovery and get caught up in the process of what God is doing day-by-day and something amazing happens……….they experience an overwhelming comeback against all odds. If you are in need of a come back in your life, realize that God’s mercy is new every morning and was meant for day-by-day progress. Looking too far forward to where you want to be can crush the freight train of momentum that God wants to give you.

YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE A GREAT COMEBACK!

A comeback where you enjoy each gradual step of progress. Many people have a hard time coming back from sin, past failures, broken dreams, because they try to hard to get everything back at once. Listen to the words of my coach, “Forget about the outcome of the game, start winning the next phase of your life.” One day, you will look back and realize that the small goals you created for yourself along the way produced more than a comeback but a better you.
