Have you been there? I have. It’s Monday, you look at your schedule, and Wednesday is going to be brutal. Out of concern over meetings on Wednesday (which appear never-ending), you find yourself robbed of enjoying Monday and Tuesday.
MUCH OF LIFE IS SPENT WORRYING ABOUT SOMETHING DOWN THE ROAD.
Many of you share my struggle of looking too far ahead. God gives us grace for 24 hours. The Bible says, “Morning by morning he gives us new mercy.” I think sometimes I try to extend that mercy week by week. God gives us mercy for the day so that each day we can have daily miracles. It’s pointless to think about how one day is going to be down the road at the expense of losing today.
DON’T WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, GOD’S ALREADY THERE!
The focus of life ought to be giving everything you have to the moment as it happens. Key words: AS IT HAPPENS. In sports, teams look too far ahead on the schedule and lose today’s game. Churches look too far ahead to Easter Sunday (The big day) and yet miss the chances in the weeks beforehand to be a blessing. Parents think about what their kids will be tomorrow instead of loving what they are today.
My prayer is that you and I will be healed of putting ourselves into future dates before they get here. We can’t live in Wednesday when we were born to flourish on Monday. Let’s live on the calendar date and be what God wants us to be today.
Anyone else as crazy as me in this area? Thoughts?
